Currently, we are not taking additional volunteers, but as the growing season heats up we may need more. So, if you enjoy working in the dirt and watching plants grow this could be the perfect fit! During the growing season we work Wednesdays and Saturdays. We also enjoy a break-time with snacks; time to socialize and share garden secrets

To benefit those in need we grow and distribute a wide variety of organic vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, squash, okra and cucumbers.
Cool weather vegetables include lettuces, kale and chard. We practice sustainable agricultural methods; implementing water conservation with regulated irrigation. And composting, mulching, and growing cover crops to enhance the garden soil.
We welcome all members of the community to become involved in our garden. If gardening is not your thing we may have other opportunities. Just ask. Are you a fundraiser? Last summer, a Strawberry Shortcake fundraiser provided much appreciated funds.
Please reach us at hilcomgarden@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We have lots of delicious veggies being grown and even more to come!
Cabbages, Kale, Chard, Tatsoi, Bok Choy, Chinese broccoli, Onions, Radishes, Lettuce, Arugula, Peppers, Cilantro, Bush Beans, Pole beans, Cucumbers, Tomatoes and Squash are the main crops we will be growing at the garden.
While our main goal is to donate our produce to porch, that isn't to say we won't have extra veg for our lovely volunteers! There is nothing better than sinking your teeth into a tomato sandwich with a tomato you just harvested!
Absolutely no experience is required to work at the garden. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come play in the dirt with us!
No minimum hours are required to volunteer at our garden. You can stay for as little or as long as you would like!
Don't worry if you do not have tools to work with either, we have extra gloves, hand trowels and any other tools needed to help at the garden. However we do recommended coming prepared with water, a hat and sunscreen. It is hard to find shade at the garden which is great for our plants or getting a tan ;) but not the best for us hard at work! Lets stay hydrated!
We also do not have onsite restrooms but there are nice public restrooms on King St. near Margaret Lane at the Hillsborough Visitors Center.
We currently have a full team of volunteers. If you would like to be on the waitlist please email Margaret hilcomgarden@gmail.com
